Hello. I'm David W. Stewart, Professor of Marketing (Emeritus), Author, and Consultant


David W. Stewart was most recently President’s Professor of Marketing and Business Law at Loyola Marymount University, where he now holds Emeritus status. Dave has held faculty and administrative appointments at Vanderbilt University, the University of Southern California, and the University of California, Riverside. He has served as the Vice President for Publications of the American Marketing Association and as editor of the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing. David W. Stewart has authored or co-authored more than 250 publications and 15 books. His research has examined a wide range of issues including marketing strategy, the analysis of markets, consumer information search and decision making, effectiveness of marketing communications, public policy issues related to marketing and methodological approaches to the analysis of marketing data. David W. Stewart has been awarded the AMA’s Award for Lifetime Contributions to Marketing and Public Policy, the Elsevier Distinguished Marketing Scholar Award by the Society for Marketing Advances and the Cutco/Vector Distinguished Marketing Education Award by the Academy of Marketing Science. He has also been honored with the 2021 American Marketing Association J. R. Davidson Award for Best Paper Published in the Journal of Retailing in 2020 and was recipient of best practitioner paper award for paper published in the Journal of Advertising Research in 2020 (Awarded by the Advertising Research Foundation). He is Fellow of the American Marketing Association, recipient of the Chinese Scholar Marketing Association Fellow Award for Outstanding Contribution to Marketing Scholarship in China and Beyond, and recipient of the Ingolstadt Legacy Award for Business and Economics in Service of Humanity, Awarded by City of Ingolstadt and Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He has also received the American Academy of Advertising Award for Outstanding Contributions to Advertising Research for his long-term contributions to research in advertising. Dr. Stewart has been an officer in a numerous professional organizations including the American Marketing Association, the American Statistical Association, the Society for Consumer Psychology, and the American Psychological Association. He has consulted for a wide variety of business, government, and not-for-profit organizations and has offered executive education programs and management briefings in more than 25 countries on 5 continents. He earned his B.A. in psychology from Northeast Louisiana University and his M. A. and Ph.D. in psychology from Baylor University. David W. Stewart lives in Spring Hill, TN with his wife. He very much enjoys theater and travel.
